Code of Ethics

The Code of Ethics outlines the requirements that guide practitioners and trainers in their approach to ethical considerations. This code supports practitioners and trainers to deliver high-quality service and also helps them to maintain and strengthen the quality of learning, ensuring adherence to best practice guidelines.


Code requirements:

  • Practitioners and trainers strive to benefit their clients and are dedicated to preventing any harm.

  • Practitioners and trainers build trust with their clients by working and acting professionally and ethically.

  • Practitioners and trainers should show respect for their clients' dignity and rights.

  • Practitioners and trainers should demonstrate respect for the diversity of clients, irrespective of gender, sexuality, race, colour, religion, belief, nationality, social orientation, marital status, age, politics, disability, and mental and physical capabilities.

  • Practitioners and trainers should demonstrate integrity and self-responsibility in order to be genuine with clients, while also ensuring their own well-being and only engaging in practices within their expertise, training, and good health.

  • Practitioners and trainers should respect the professional status and scope of practice of other peers in the field.

  • Practitioners and trainers must have professional indemnity insurance in place when providing their services.

  • Practitioners and trainers must ensure the premises where services are provided are appropriate for the client and service. They should also take reasonable steps to safeguard the client and any accompanying persons.

  • Practitioners and trainers should clearly explain to clients about the purpose and limitations of the services offered.

  • Practitioners and trainers should advise clients to consult registered medical doctors if clients are experiencing any critical or emergency medical conditions in the medical disclaimer.

  • Practitioners and trainers must maintain strict confidentiality in their relationships with clients by safeguarding their data.

  • When practitioners are working on services for children and young persons, obtain the written consent of an appropriate adult (i.e., parent or legal guardian) before providing services.

  • Trainers should ensure that any training they offer meets accepted standards.

  • Practitioners and trainers should provide services that demonstrate their own competence and expertise.

  • Trainers should set clear course framework and objectives for each training course delivered.

  • Trainers should clearly communicate to the participants any issuance of the certificate upon completion of training courses and/or coursework and trainer assessment, if appliable.​
